Major Crackdown: FIR Registered Against Naib Tehsildar in Raipur, Accused of Sexual Exploitation on Pretext of Marriage

Raipur, 13 June 2026:A major case has emerged from Chhattisgarh’s capital, Raipur, where a state administrative officer (Naib Tehsildar) has been accused of sexually exploiting a young woman under the false pretext of marriage. Following the victim’s complaint, the Ganj Police Station in Raipur has registered a case against the official. The accused officer has reportedly gone missing since the FIR was filed.
Accused of Exploitation Under False Pretext of Marriage
According to the complaint filed by the victim, the accused promised to marry her and subsequently established physical relations at a hotel in Raipur. However, whenever the victim brought up the topic of marriage afterwards, the accused kept stalling. Upon realizing that the promise was entirely false and that she had been deceived, the victim approached the Ganj Police Station to seek justice.

Initial police investigation has revealed that the accused, identified as Diwakar Bhaskar, is currently posted as a Naib Tehsildar in the Latori area of Surajpur district.
Anticipating legal action, the officer managed to evade the police. According to departmental sources, the accused Naib Tehsildar has been on medical leave since June 6 and has not reported to his office since then.

Case Registered Under Section 69 of BNS; Digital Investigation Underway
According to police officials, based on the victim’s statement and preliminary evidence, a case has been registered against Diwakar Bhaskar under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
What is Section 69 of the BNS?
Under the new penal law (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), Section 69 specifically deals with establishing sexual relations with a woman by making a deceitful promise of marriage, concealing one’s identity, or falsely promising employment/promotion without her genuine consent.

Police Teams Launch Search Operations
The Ganj Police have formed teams and initiated raids at the accused officer’s residence and other suspected hideouts. Given the high-profile nature of the case, the police are heavily relying on scientific and digital forensics. The investigation will closely examine:
Hotel stay records (visitor registers and CCTV footage).
Mobile Call Detail Records (CDR).
Social media chats and other digital footprints.
Senior police officials stated that the accused will be subjected to rigorous interrogation upon arrest, and further legal and departmental actions will be taken based on the facts that emerge during the probe.
