PM Awas Yojana: Over 50,000 Permanent Houses in Bilaspur, ₹781 Crore Transferred via DBT; A Rural Development Milestone
Bilaspur, 24 April 2026. (National Panchayati Raj Day Special Report) In a major boost to rural development, Bilaspur district in Chhattisgarh has provided 50,044 permanent (pucca) houses to families in need. The achievement is attributed to the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), along with the PM Jan Man Yojana and the Chief Minister Housing Scheme, turning the dream of homeownership into reality for thousands.
₹781 Crore Transferred Directly to Beneficiaries
The district administration ensured transparency and efficiency by transferring a total of ₹781.13 crore directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This eliminated middlemen and significantly accelerated construction progress.

Block-wise Performance: Masturi Leads
Development block-wise data highlights strong execution on the ground:
- Masturi: 14,973 houses
- Bilha: 13,762 houses
- Kota: 11,205 houses
- Takhatpur: 10,104 houses
‘Nari Shakti’ at the Core of Success
Women played a crucial role in this achievement:

- 113 women trained as “Rani Mistris” (women masons)
- 331 women appointed as “Dealer Didis” supplying construction materials
- 2,231 women earning income by renting out shuttering materials
These initiatives have significantly strengthened women’s economic independence.
Second Rank in Chhattisgarh
Between 2016–17 and 2025–26, Bilaspur district completed 1,03,873 houses under the scheme, securing second place in Chhattisgarh—a reflection of strong planning, monitoring, and public participation.

Transforming Lives on the Ground
The scheme has had a deep human impact. Women like Jhangli Baiga from Darsagar and Kailasha Bai from Nevsa, who once lived in fragile kutcha houses, are now leading safer and more dignified lives in permanent homes. For them, it’s not just a house—but a foundation for a better future.
Administration Calls It a ‘Proud Achievement’
District Collector Sanjay Kumar Agrawal described the milestone as a matter of pride, stating that these houses symbolize dignity and security for poor families. Meanwhile, CEO of District Panchayat Sandeep Kumar Agrawal reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to delivering benefits to every eligible beneficiary with transparency and dedication.
