Congress Launches Nationwide “Chatron Ki Goonj” Campaign, Targets Central Government Over Exam Leaks
Bilaspur, June 25, 2026: The Indian National Congress on Thursday launched its nationwide “Chatron Ki Goonj” campaign, aimed at highlighting issues faced by students, competitive exam aspirants, and unemployed youth across the country. The party said the campaign would focus on transparency in examinations, investigation into paper leak cases, and concerns surrounding the future of millions of young Indians.
The campaign was formally launched in Bilaspur at Hotel East Park by former Madhya Pradesh minister Jaivardhan Singh, who unveiled the campaign poster during a press conference. Addressing the media, Singh said the movement would run for 40 days across 28 major cities and involve direct engagement with students through college campuses, libraries, coaching centres, and youth groups.
Congress Targets Government Over Exam Irregularities
During the press conference, Singh alleged that repeated incidents of paper leaks, delays in recruitment processes, and cancellation of examinations had severely eroded students’ trust in the system. He cited the NEET UG 2026 controversy as a major example of what the party described as the failure of the examination system.
The Congress leader demanded accountability from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, stating that repeated irregularities in national-level examinations warrant an impartial investigation and strict action against those responsible.
According to the party, several examinations over the past few years have been affected by paper leaks and administrative lapses, causing hardship to millions of aspirants and creating uncertainty regarding their careers.
40-Day Nationwide Outreach Programme
Congress leaders described the campaign as more than a symbolic protest, calling it a structured nationwide movement for students’ rights and employment opportunities.
The campaign schedule includes:
- June 30 onwards: Distribution of pamphlets, street-corner meetings, and student outreach programmes in 28 cities.
- Throughout July: Campus interactions, weekly events, and “Ambedkar Dialogues.”
- August 1, 2026: Simultaneous demonstrations and collectorate gheraos in all 28 cities.
- August 9, 2026: Conclusion of the first phase with a “Delhi Chalo” mobilisation aimed at taking students’ concerns directly to the national capital.
Congress’ Three Key Demands
The opposition party has placed three major demands before the central government:
- Immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
- An independent probe into alleged paper leak networks, vendor agencies, and any political protection extended to them.
- Comprehensive reforms in the examination system, including audits of the National Testing Agency (NTA), paper-setting processes, printing, transportation, examination centres, and digital systems.
The party has also called for a fixed annual examination and recruitment calendar, with pre-announced dates for exams, results, and appointments.
Rahul Gandhi’s Critique of the Education System
The campaign also draws heavily from remarks made by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi during a recent rally in Kota, Rajasthan. Gandhi argued that India’s current education system has become a “rejection system,” claiming that only a small fraction of students ultimately secure prestigious positions or formal employment despite intense competition and high educational expenses.
According to the Congress statement, the campaign seeks to raise broader questions about educational opportunities, employment prospects, and systemic reforms needed to restore confidence among students and young job seekers.
