Chhattisgarh Cleanliness Awards 2026: Raipur, Bilaspur and Bilha Selected for Swachh Survekshan Awards
President Droupadi Murmu to honour the three urban bodies at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on November 11 under Swachh Survekshan 2025-26

Raipur: Chhattisgarh has received a major recognition for its cleanliness efforts ahead of Diwali, with Raipur, Bilaspur and Bilha selected for national-level awards under Swachh Survekshan 2025-26.
President Droupadi Murmu will honour representatives of the three urban local bodies at a ceremony scheduled to be held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on November 11. The recognition marks an important moment for the state, particularly for Bilha, which has earned a place alongside the larger urban centres of Raipur and Bilaspur.
The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has communicated the selection through an official letter. The awards are part of the national cleanliness assessment initiative aimed at encouraging urban local bodies to improve sanitation, waste management and public participation in cleanliness drives.
Bilha’s recognition adds significance to Chhattisgarh’s achievement
The selection of Bilha alongside Raipur and Bilaspur has brought additional attention to the cleanliness efforts of smaller urban bodies in the state. The recognition is also expected to encourage other municipalities and urban local bodies to strengthen their sanitation initiatives.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated the selected cities and appreciated the efforts behind the achievement.
Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration Minister Arun Sao said the recognition would motivate other urban local bodies in Chhattisgarh to work with greater commitment towards cleanliness and better civic services.
Safai Mitras and civic teams to be part of the ceremony
The award ceremony will be attended by representatives of the selected cities. According to the communication from the Union Ministry, four representatives from each awarded city will be eligible to receive the award on stage.
Safai Mitras, sanitation inspectors, supervisors and engineers associated with cleanliness initiatives have also been invited to attend the programme.
Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal and Minister of State Tokhan Sahu are also expected to be present at the event.
‘Swachhata Ki Nai Pehal’ theme for the national event
This year’s programme carries the theme “Swachhata Ki Nai Pehal – Badhayein Haath, Karein Safai Saath”, highlighting collective participation and shared responsibility in keeping cities clean.
The recognition comes as a festive boost for Chhattisgarh ahead of Diwali. For Raipur and Bilaspur, it marks national recognition of their cleanliness initiatives, while Bilha’s selection underlines the growing role of smaller urban centres in the state’s sanitation efforts.
