Jogi Congress 2.0: Amit Jogi Changes Strategy, Drops ‘Ajit Jogi’ From Youth Wing, Shares Inside Story on Congress Merger

Raipur, July 8, 2026: Seeking to revive its political fortunes ahead of future electoral battles, the Chhattisgarh Janta Congress (J) on Wednesday unveiled a revamped organisational and political roadmap under the banner of “Jogi Congress 2.0.”

Launching the initiative at his residence in Raipur, party president Amit Jogi said the outfit was entering a “new phase” with a renewed vision, younger leadership and a politics centred on public issues rather than caste, religion or dynastic considerations.

“The nature of politics has changed. The future belongs to new ideas, technology-driven governance and issue-based politics. Our focus will be on standing with the people on ground-level issues,” Jogi told reporters.

Youth wing rebranded, Ajit Jogi’s name dropped

As part of the organisational overhaul, the party has renamed its youth wing. The Ajit Jogi Yuva Congress, named after the party’s founder and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, will now function as the Janata Yuva Congress.

Amit Jogi announced the appointment of Ishwar Upadhyay as the new president of the youth organisation, saying the move reflects the party’s intention to build a new generation of leadership.

Statewide campaigns on drugs, unemployment and injustice

The party also announced that it would launch statewide campaigns focusing on drug abuse, unemployment and social injustice.

Jogi said the youth wing would run a “Save Daughters, Save Sons” campaign, arguing that young men in the state were increasingly facing challenges such as substance abuse, unemployment and depression. He also expressed concern over the alleged rise in alcohol and narcotics consumption in Chhattisgarh.

Amit Jogi reiterates Congress merger proposal

In a significant political statement, Amit Jogi said his party had formally proposed a merger with the Indian National Congress about a year ago, but no decision had been communicated by the Congress leadership.

“We wanted to merge with the Congress because we believed the Opposition needed to unite against the BJP. Even after waiting for a year, there was no response. Therefore, we decided to give our organisation a fresh beginning,” he said.

He added that the Congress now required support to strengthen its position, not only in Chhattisgarh but across the country.

Responds to ‘B-Team of BJP’ criticism

Addressing allegations that the party functioned as the BJP’s “B-Team”, Amit Jogi said the tag had caused considerable political damage.

“That perception created a negative image among voters and hurt the organisation. Through Jogi Congress 2.0, we want to redefine our political identity and reconnect with the people,” he said.

Books on Ajit Jogi’s writings released

The event also witnessed the release of two books based on the writings of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi — Drishtikon and Sadi Ke Mod.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Renu Jogi said the books compile Ajit Jogi’s newspaper columns and articles analysing major political developments of the 1990s, offering readers an insight into the state’s political evolution.

With the launch of Jogi Congress 2.0, the regional party has signalled a fresh attempt to reposition itself in Chhattisgarh’s political landscape through organisational restructuring, youth-focused leadership and issue-based campaigns.
