According to the order released by the Home (Police) Department, senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Ankit Kumar Garg has been given the additional charge as the Director of the State Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
Ankit Kumar Garg is currently discharging his duties at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Raipur. Moving forward, he will oversee the responsibilities of the FSL alongside his current deployment at the PHQ.
S.C. Dwivedi Relieved from Duties As per the directives of the Home Department, retired Inspector General of Police (IG) S.C. Dwivedi has been relieved of his additional charge as the Director of the State Forensic Science Laboratory. The state government has ordered this new administrative arrangement to come into effect immediately.

A Boost to Forensic and Scientific Investigation The State Forensic Science Laboratory is the apex institution for the scientific investigation of crimes in Chhattisgarh. The laboratory handles critical scientific examinations related to high-profile cases, including homicide, cybercrime, financial fraud, explosives, DNA profiling, fingerprints, and narcotics.
With a senior, on-duty IPS officer from the PHQ taking the helm, coordination between law enforcement investigating teams and the forensic lab is expected to become much more streamlined. Experts believe this appointment will significantly accelerate the processing of pending forensic reports, leading to faster trials and judicial outcomes.
