Bilaspur to Glow with 10 Lakh Diyas; 1.25 Lakh Lamps to Be Lit at Police Parade Ground

Bilaspur, September 16, 2026: Bilaspur district is set to glow with nearly 10 lakh diyas on September 17 as part of the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme being organised under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan to mark 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public service.
The lamps will be lit simultaneously across the district at 7 pm. The district-level programme will be held at the Police Parade Ground in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Bilaspur district in-charge minister Arun Sao, where 1.25 lakh diyas will be illuminated.
Religious and Heritage Sites to Be Lit Up
As part of the initiative, several prominent religious and historical sites across the district will also be illuminated.
- Ratanpur: 11,000 diyas
- Belpan: 1,100 diyas
- Tala: 1,100 diyas
- Malhar: 11,000 diyas
The administration has also identified 44 gram panchayats across the district’s four development blocks, where diyas will be lit in every household.
Every Household in 44 Villages to Participate
Under the initiative, all households in selected villages under Bilha, Kota, Masturi and Takhatpur development blocks will light diyas. In addition, arrangements have been made to light more than 100 ‘Aashirwad’ diyas in every village as part of the campaign.
Government Buildings, Schools and Welfare Beneficiaries to Join
At 7 pm, diyas will also be lit at government buildings, schools, panchayat buildings, anganwadi centres and gram panchayats across the district.
The homes of beneficiaries of schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin and National Rural Livelihood Mission will also be included in the programme.
Members of women’s self-help groups will assist with diya-lighting events at various locations. As part of the Jal Jan Seva Sankalp, diyas will also be lit at dams, barrages, anicuts, canal heads and other water-related sites across the district. The large-scale initiative is aimed at promoting public participation and reinforcing the message of collective commitment to public service.
