‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi Highlights India’s Cultural Pride and Scientific Progress

New Delhi – On Sunday, July 27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation through the 124th episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, where he spoke candidly to the citizens about India’s glorious history, scientific advancements, self-reliance, and cultural heritage.

During his address, PM Modi highlighted several topics that showcased India’s pride and progress. He mentioned that UNESCO has recently designated 12 Maratha forts as World Heritage Sites, with 11 located in Maharashtra and one in Tamil Nadu. These include significant forts like Salher, Shivneri, Pratapgad, and Vijaydurg, which narrate the tales of valor and vision of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He also referred to Ranthambore, Jaisalmer, Kumbhalgarh in Rajasthan, and Kalinjar in Uttar Pradesh, calling them symbols of India’s self-respect. He encouraged people to visit these historical sites and reconnect with their heritage.

On the front of science and technology, the Prime Minister praised the ‘Gyan Bharatham Mission’, which aims to digitally preserve ancient Indian manuscripts. He said this initiative will pass on India’s rich intellectual tradition to the younger generation. He also appreciated the ‘Grassland Bird Census’ initiative at Kaziranga National Park in Assam, where AI technology was used to identify more than 40 bird species.

The Prime Minister lauded space scientist Shubhanshu Shukla’s return to India as a proud moment, and expressed happiness over the growing curiosity about space among children. He further celebrated the outstanding performance of Indian students in the International Chemistry and Mathematics Olympiads.

Declaring August 23 as National Space Day, PM Modi encouraged citizens to share their thoughts on the NaMo app. He also emphasized promoting innovation through the INSPIRE MANAK scheme for school students and expressed pride over 200+ space startups contributing to India’s space sector.

He concluded by appealing to citizens to stay aware and involved in initiatives related to culture, science, and history, and to take pride in the country’s achievements.
